{"id":2786,"date":"2022-06-08T16:16:29","date_gmt":"2022-06-08T20:16:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lakehopatcongcommission.org\/?page_id=2786"},"modified":"2022-09-19T12:13:53","modified_gmt":"2022-09-19T16:13:53","slug":"2022-weed-harvesting-schedule","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/lakehopatcongcommission.org\/index.php\/2022-weed-harvesting-schedule\/","title":{"rendered":"2022 Weed Harvesting Schedule"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"pl-2786\"  class=\"panel-layout\" ><div id=\"pg-2786-0\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-no-style\" ><div id=\"pgc-2786-0-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-2786-0-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_text panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"0\" >\t\t\t<div class=\"textwidget\"><div>\n<p>In January, the NJ Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) transferred harvesting employees and ownership of the harvesting equipment to the Lake Hopatcong Commission (the Commission). \u00a0After two years without a weed harvesting program on Lake Hopatcong, seasonal staff started safety training the week of May 23<sup>rd<\/sup>.\u00a0 The harvesting staff began regular harvesting this week.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The program for 2022 will be slightly different than in past years.\u00a0 Floating weeds will be collected on Fridays and Mondays.\u00a0 In the past floating weeds were collected only on Fridays.\u00a0 The Commission will provide an <b><u>estimated<\/u>\u00a0<\/b>harvesting schedule in two-week blocks throughout the summer.\u00a0 Generally, the harvesters will move from south to north up the lake.\u00a0 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>The schedule is subject to change dependent on weather, staffing, and mechanical breakdowns.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><u>ESTIMATED SCHEDULE<\/u><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Prior to June 6<sup>th<\/sup> the area between Hopatcong State Park Dam and Point Pleasant was completed as part of operator training.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Between June 6<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 June 17<sup>th<\/sup> harvesting will continue from Point Pleasant north to Ingram Cove and Bedbug Island, and within Landing Channel, King Cove and the west shore of Bertrand Island.<\/p>\n<p>Between June 21st &#8211; July 1st the nearshore conveyor and dump truck will be transported from Hopatcong State Park up to Lee&#8217;s County Park. \u00a0Harvesting will continue in Crescent Cove, Van Every Cove and the north side of Bertrand Island.<\/p>\n<p>Between July 5th &#8211; July 15th harvesting will continue in Crescent Cove.<\/p>\n<p>July 18th &#8211; 29th &#8211; Harvesters have moved north up the lake to Henderson Cove and Sunrise Bay (between Halsey and Raccoon Island). \u00a0Over the next two weeks they will continue harvesting this area as well as Nolan&#8217;s Point and up to Brady Bridge.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>August 1 &#8211;
